Story

Hi, Here I am again doing a marathon, which I never thought I'd do in the first place but here we are, round 2! ha!. As the end of one year came and a new one begins we reflect on the past 365 days, and the new ones we want. Last year brought so many new experience, good and not so good. The commonality being the relationship they all shared with the losing of my Mum, Claire. My Mum, Claire, suffered with Cauda Equina Syndrome, a condition where the nerves in the lower back get severely compressed causing horrible numbness of the lower body and inexcusable pain in the back. Although this provided issues, my Mum never let this stop her from accomplishing her goals and smashing expectations. An inspiration to me really. She went above and beyond what medical professions and she thought she could do. Even when time got hard or difficult there would always be a joke to be made or a laugh to be had. Although her condition effected her ability to be mobile, she would always be found getting out and about, even on her, eventual, electric scooter. With reflecting on my Mum I looked back on the encouragement she gave with my first marathon (last year). My first marathon was very much reflective and driven by my Mum. So this year I wanted to do this specifically in her memory and make her proud by supporting a charity very close to her heart. Here to you Mum <3
