Story
Having volunteered on the railway for the last four years I have learnt more about the important role that the Samaritan's play in preventing suicide. The Samaritans offer so much more than just a helpline.
Alongside their helpline, which people can call to talk to a volunteer listener 24 hours a day, the Samaritans offer services including face-to-face, text and email counselling, support and information for those who are struggling or who are worried about someone else, as well as delivering programmes in schools, workplaces, prisons and the military.
All of this costs money and that's why I'm fundraising for the Samaritans so that I can help to ensure that they are there for those who need their support most. Throughout March I'll be walking 310,000 steps which is equivalent to around 147 Miles.
Please donate what you can as every little helps. £5 is all Samaritans need to answer a call from someone struggling to cope.
For every £1 donated to Samaritans and its branches in the UK and Ireland, 82p goes on their services and just 18p is invested in raising the next £1.
