Story
I am aiming to raise money for the Bodie Hodges Foundation – a charity incredibly close to the hearts of the St. Peter’s Academy community (the school where I teach) after the untimely passing of one of our pupils, Freddie Orton, last year. The Bodie Hodges Foundation provides a range of services and invaluable
support to families bereaved of a child across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland. Freddie himself was deeply involved in the charity and supported their amazing work. I am hoping to continue to celebrate Freddie’s legacy and will be sporting the #bemorefreddie slogan on my vest in honour of an incredible young boy.
The Bodie Hodges Foundation was formed in 2012 and its vision is to give hope to families bereaved of a child by providing a range of services that support grieving families and encourage them to rebuild and remember. Through Bodies Bereavement Service, they provide early emotional therapeutic support to families, working with those who have experienced the sudden and unexpected death of a child up to the age of 18 within Leicester, Leicestershire, and Rutland. They work with the whole family, including siblings for up to eighteen months, providing support during the darkest time of a family's grief. At Bodies Boathouse, the Foundation provides a one-week stay to families from across the East Midlands within the first three years following their child's death. The Boathouse is a 3-bedroomed luxury lodge based at Tallington Lakes, Lincolnshire, designed to help families relax and spend time together. All services are provided free of charge.
