Story
This autumn I will set off on my 17 day expedition to Everest Base Camp in Nepal. Starting out in London on 29th September 2022, I will be flying to Kathmandu where the expedition starts in earnest, all in aid of Northern Ireland Hospice.
The challenge involves a 13 day trek through the Nepali Himalaya, but not before catching a small plane from Kathmandu to the infamous Lukla Airport perched at 2,800m (9,200ft) on a tiny outcrop of relatively “flatland” nestled amongst the world’s tallest mountains!
I am trekking to Everest base camp at an altitude of 5357m and if everything goes to plan, I will also summit Kalapatthar which sits at 5647m, the latter offering spectacular views of Everest’s peak. The trek is a round trip of approximately 112kms and involves camping each night in locations with very limited facilities and in sub-zero temperatures.
Over the coming months I will be raising money for Northern Ireland Hospice, a very worthy local charity which provides specialist palliative care to children and adults across Northern Ireland when they need it most!
I would love to raise a minimum of £5000 for this amazing charity and any donation, big or small, would be greatly appreciated.
