Last summer by best friend went to Kenya, Africa to volunteer for two charities - 'Raise the Roof' and 'Start Small'. Both Charities focus on supporting familes and young persons living in desperate circumstances. The Children spend their days scavenging amongst landfill for items to sell or even eat, 

The families themselves live in shanty homes, often makeshift tents, or under a sheet of tarpaulin. Unable to get the medical attention so many need, disease and death is such a common occurence.

The situation is deperate, but it is improving with the work Raise the Roof and Start Small continue to do in the area of Nakuru, Kenya.

The money both charities rasie helps to improve living conditions, provide medical care, schooling for the children and vocational training for the older children. The aim of both charities is to help the village to be sulf sustaining in the future, which requires lots of hard work - and your generous donations! 

On my part I have been training really hard - I hope to complete the Marathon in under 3 and a half hours. I hope to make my family proud, support my friend and help people so much less fortunate than you or I.
