Story
Rescheduled to the 5th of October:
Our staff team are taking part in the Mighty (un)Mute – a day-long vow of silence.
I will be starting my day of silence (which includes no texting, posting on social media, emailing, and speaking) on Wednesday the 5th of October. For the last 2 hours of the challenge, I will be out of the office, walking the World Reimagined Art Trail in Leicester.

Sometimes actions speak louder than words…
We’re giving up our voices to raise awareness of the importance of young people’s voices – especially those who identify as part of the Global Majority (previously referred to as BAME); those young people who so often go unheard. We won’t be able to communicate with others throughout the day verbally, by text or email, by written notes, or by posting on social media.
But there’s more. We need to raise £5000 to support The World Reimagined, a ground-breaking arts education project responding to the theme Still We Rise. Our fundraiser fights to transform how we understand the Transatlantic Trade-in Enslaved Africans – and its recurrent impact on all of us.
“The Mighty (UN)Mute is going to be a real challenge for me… I’m often overheard talking to myself, singing silly songs to my dog, and just generally thinking out loud. It’s going to take real effort and restraint to not blurt things out unconsciously! But I’m so excited to get involved and raise vital funds for this inspiring and thought-provoking a project that’s set to make real change for racial justice.”

Why’s the Mighty (UN)Mute important?
We want to raise awareness of racial justice in the most creative way we know how – through the arts! We’re hoping to raise £5,000 to support the artistic creation of one often Globe Sculptures in The World Reimagined art trail across Leicester, one of the most multicultural cities in the UK. Our Globe will be created by local young people who identify as the Global Majority and/or who have lived experience of racism (and a supporting artist!). The purpose? To recognise and honour those most impacted by the Transatlantic Trade in Enslaved Africans through the centuries to the present day.
Our globe will serve as a permanent reminder in Leicester – of the cause behind, and beyond, the art trail – to ensure that important conversations continue to take place and untold stories are heard.
But we need your support…
