Manchester Marathon 2022 · 16 April 2023 ·
As some of you are aware, or not as the case may be. I am Ryan Legge, and I hate running.... Fitting really for a marathon.
Running a marathon has always been one of those things in the bucket list to complete, and if Covid has taught me one thing, it is that you cannot let anything get in the way of your dreams because you never know what will happen... literally a pandemic from bats, who would have thought!!! What it has also taught me, with all the alone time I have had with the World Wide Web, is the world is dying and needs our help.
We are destroying our own planet... there is no Plan(et) B (see what I did there, a light hearted joke). But in all seriousness I think we need to become aware of what we are doing and start taking care. As Sir David (yes we are on first name bases), has told us recently, it is not too late to make a change, whether that being more aware of your recycling, single use plastic, littering, retail purchases... the list goes on... We have the power to make a difference, if we all made small differences to our daily routines we could change this, we could adjust our futures, those of our kids and the kids to come, but it will take all of us to do it...
So why run for WWF, well it is their mission to rectify the pain and suffering we haven't just inflicted on animals but also the planet and plants. We have one world and why not do everything you can to preserve this beautiful thing. Yes we will fade and so will the memories of who we are, but what could remain is the changes we have implicated today by donating to WWF and helping to turn back the clocks.
If that isn't enough to reflect on... look outside... what do you see... I see a world that needs our help, and that starts today.
