Story
On the 2nd April 2023 I will be running the London Landmarks Half Marathon, raising money for Sarcoma UK.
In January 2021, at aged 31 and just three months after giving birth to our first child, my wife Sophie was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive cancer called Ewing sarcoma. Ewing sarcoma is a bone and soft tissue cancer most commonly affecting children, teenagers and young adults. There are fewer than 100 cases of Ewing sarcoma diagnosed in the UK and Ireland each year.
Following a gruelling treatment programme over 9 months, including 14 rounds of chemotherapy and 28 sessions of radiotherapy, Sophie is thankfully in remission.
However we are well aware this is not the case for many and more needs to be done to improve survival rates for sarcoma, and to find more effective treatment paths to get there.
There are around 100 different sub-types of known sarcoma. Sarcoma UK is a national charity that funds vital research, offers support for anyone affected by sarcoma cancer and campaigns for better treatments.
The support team at Sarcoma UK helped Sophie and our family through the toughest year of our lives and we are determined to do all we can to ensure the charity can continue to do their brilliant work and continue to support others in the way they helped us.
I really do appreciate any donation you can make as it will make such a difference to this amazing charity.
Thank you so much
Ryan
