Brighton Marathon 2023 · 2 April 2023 ·

We conduct world class medical research projects. We diagnose and treat thousands of people with epilepsy every year. We do this and much more. We are the UK’s national medical epilepsy charity. With Epilepsy Society, you don’t have to deal with epilepsy alone.

Story

Hi I'm Ryan & I'm running the Brighton Marathon on Sunday 2nd April in support of Epilepsy Society.

This year I'm incredibly proud to be running to raise money to help those with epilepsy. As someone with epilepsy myself I understand the difficulties people who experience seizures face in everyday life, and how transformative the work, care, and research that epilepsy charities provide. You can find out more about their amazing work here https://epilepsysociety.org.uk/what-we-do/about-epilepsy-society

Like many people, I discovered my love of running during lockdown in 2020. After I got bored of walking around the same loop, I started to use the 30 minutes or so we were allowed outside to run instead. It didn't take long before I bought my first pair of proper running trainers, and then never stopped. Since then it's been a hugely positive change in my life, not only physically but also mentally. Last September I challenged myself to run my first road race - the London 'Big Half' Marathon - which I managed to complete in 1hr 47 minutes.

I hope by sharing my experience and running for charity, I can not only raise important charity funds, but also further increase awareness of living with epilepsy too.

Thank you for your kind support & donations.
