Thanks for taking the time to visit my donations page for the London to Paris cycle ride 27th June to July 1st 2012 in support of The Children’s Society.

I recently undertook some work for The Children's Society and was left shocked and saddened at the plight of many of the UK's Children. As a parent I could not accept the physical and mental pain of some of these children have to endure as a way of life.

At The Children's Society, the priority is children who have nowhere else to turn. Like the 100,000 young people who run away from home each year, usually because family life has become intolerable. They work tirelessly to give the most disadvantaged and vulnerable young people a better start in life.

They transform the lives of over 44,000 children and young people each year.

Their programmes give disabled children a voice and afford them greater control over their own lives. They help refugee children rebuild their lives in new communities and give young carers a break from their responsibilities. Children in the criminal justice system are guided away from crime. They work with schools, establish mentoring schemes and manage children's centres, supporting children who face the greatest disadvantage in their daily lives.

They need £40 million per year to continue vital work – and want to grow still further to realise their vision of a world where every child enjoys a good childhood.

They need as much support as possible so I decided to ride the 300 miles to Paris in just 4 days at the end of June 2012 with the aim of helping some children in desperate need.
