Story
I am running the Brighton Marathon to raise vital funds for Endometriosis UK! I was diagnosed with Endometriosis in 2014 and suffer daily from pain and fatigue, as well as mentally having to come to terms with the unknown affect on my fertility. I started running 2 years ago with the goal of running a marathon to raise money for Endometriosis UK.
Endometriosis is the name given to the condition where cells similar to the ones in the lining of the womb are found elsewhere in the body. Every month these cells bleed but have no way of leaving the body. It is a chronic and often debilitating condition that can cause painful periods, pelvic pain outside of periods, infertility and fatigue.
Endometriosis affects 1 in 10 women and those assigned female at birth, that's as many as diabetes yet very few people have even heard of it. The impact can be felt for life and there is no cure. It takes an average of 8 years to get a diagnosis of endometriosis in the UK, that's too long!
Your donations will mean that Endometriosis UK can continue to support those affected by Endometriosis through national support groups, information provision and their helpline as well as continue to campaign for change, fairer treatment and eventually a cure. Attending support groups is very important for me as it shows me I am not alone and being around those that understand is vital to me. So, your donations make a big difference to my life and I am very grateful. Thank you!
