Story
We all know someone affected by cancer. In our family, sadly one of those people was my Aunty, the Reverend Ruth Scott. Through her work, Ruth was an inspirational figure. In particular her Pause for Thought reflections on the BBC Radio 2 breakfast show resonated with millions of listeners around the world. Ruth battled lymphoma for 2 years and her warmth and compassion are missed by us all (you can listen to Ruth's last broadcast here - https://play.acast.com/s/chrisevansvirginuk/chrisevanswithreverendruthscott)
To honour Ruth’s memory and to raise vital funds for Macmillian cancer support, I’m going to cycle 288 miles in 24 hours. The start point will be my home town of Harrogate and the chequered flag will be waved at the hospital unit in Southampton where Ruth received her treatment and, ultimately, died.
Whilst this ride has been inspired by Ruth the difference she made, this ride is really for everyone that has been affected by cancer.
Thank you for supporting my fundraising. Macmillan Cancer Support is here to help everyone with cancer live life as fully as they can, providing physical, financial and emotional support. So whatever cancer throws your way, Macmillan will be right there with you.
