Story
Ruth has a neurological condition called CBD.
No, not cannabis oil (unfortunately!)… but Corticobasal Degeneration, a rare and life-limiting disease. Think the evil stepmother of Parkinson’s. Nasty right! So, Ruth, the ultimate rock star, wants to raise awareness and, well, live a little!
Let’s not beat around the bush here: Ruth has lost a lot of her mobility and is now increasingly in her wheelchair. It will be no mean feat for her to go up in the plane. However, she jokes, falling out of it should be no problem at all!!
Ruth has fully paid for her skydiving ticket herself. All money raised will go straight to the charity – so no refunds if the parachute fails to open!
She will be taking the dive on the 8th October at Headcorn Aerodrome, Kent – all are welcome to cheer her on.
Roxy (daughter), Fran (sister) Chrissy (niece) AND Ruths 87-year-old father (David) will also be jumping for moral support ...and to give her a shove if need be. Richard (husband) will stay firmly on the ground.
In the meantime, take the jump too and donate!

CBD and PSP are closely- linked degenerative neurological diseases for which there is no cure or medication to slow down their progress. As the tau protein blocks up the ganglions in the brain, the sufferer progressively loses mobility, vision, speech, cognitive function, the ability to swallow. Famous sufferers include Dudley Moore, Peter Sarstedt and Linda Ronstadt. Ruth was diagnosed in December 2016 and is in the early to mid-stage of the disease. Despite all, she remains in good spirits – supported by her five children, one ‘room-for-improvement’ husband / carer, two dogs, two pigs, four ducks and ten chickens.
PSPA is a national charity providing support and information to people living with PSP and CBD, while funding research into treatments and ultimately a cure. We aim to improve the lives of everyone affected by PSP and CBD. We rely entirely on voluntary donations, and that's why we need your support.
