Story
Richard and I loved to be together near water. Richy liked a quick plunge and then a blast in the sun afterwards, and I liked to stay in and swim. If the water was really really cold, Mr T could usually be found in the nearest coffee shop with our dog Jumbo while I took my dip in the sea :)
Richard’s life was devastatingly cut short by pancreatic cancer in 2022; this June would have seen him celebrate his 54th birthday. Even as I write these words my eyes cannot believe what they are seeing.
So I’ve taken to the water again, and am training to swim in the Bantham Swoosh in July, in honour of Richard for his birthday. I’m doing it for him, for love and for life, because loving and living was what Richy was all about.
The Bantham Swoosh is a 6km estuary swim down the River Avon in Devon, and I will be fundraising for Level Water, who create bespoke swimming lessons for children with disabilities all across the UK.
These are swimming lessons that simply wouldn't exist without these donations. So if you are able to help, you will be giving these children the opportunity to learn to swim, develop emotional and social confidence and create a lifelong love of the water.
Summer 2022 saw some of the children Level Water have taught to swim take part in the Mini Swoosh, swimming the last km of the main event. This was an incredible experience for them and something they never would have achieved if it wasnt for people like you donating.
Completing an outdoor swim is a fabulous culmination of their lessons - which you are helping us to provide.
So from Mr and Mrs T sending you all our love and a huge great big
THANK YOU! ❤️
