Story
If you've met me you've probably been victim to hearing my obsession over Boomer and forced to look at endless pictures of him (sorry!) or heard the back story to my Krypto tattoo. Both pups were rescues, thanks to organisations like the RSPCA, and have brought my family more joy and laughs--not to mention chewed-up furniture--than we could ever imagine.
I've always loved animals, but running is a passion that came later in life. I'm honoured to be running the London Marathon on behalf of the RSPCA, raising money for animal welfare and rescue. All donations big and small are greatly appreciated, every penny encouraging me to put one foot in front of the other for 26.2 looong miles.
We've all had to suffer through too many heartbreaking TV ads with adorable kittens and puppies pleading with us to donate--so instead of another sob story I'll leave you with this ridiculous photo of Boomer and a few embarrassing stories about me and my love for animals:
- When I was little my brother and I found a baby bird who'd fallen out of its nest, and made it a home out of a shoe box so we could nurse it back to life....we did not succeed.
- One fall I gathered up all the acorns in our yard and created a stash for the squirrels so they wouldn't go hungry over the winter. It was only years later I was informed the squirrels probably wouldn't go near food touched by a human. In effect I probably starved them.
- I competed in rodeos at our local equestrian center. Won a few medals and only fell off the horse once!
- I decided it was a good idea to take the 100-pound mastiff at the shelter where I volunteered for a walk during a blizzard in NYC. It was very slippery and he pulled, hard...I'll leave it at that
Thanks everyone for your support, I will definitely need it!
