Story
Since being diagnosed with Bowel Cancer in 2020 I am raising awareness of this awful decease and also of the wonderful charities that support those living with cancer. This year I have chosen Maggie's Cancer Support Centre @ Cheltenham and I will be running a number of events this year to raise funds for them. Maggie's Cheltenham needs your help now more than ever.
They give the best possible support to people with cancer and their families, filling a void that the specialist medical teams do not cover, at this incredibly difficult time.
They have supported me, and my husband, on my journey with Cancer over this last year. My emotional and mental well being was, well, in need of some assistance :-) The team at Maggie's were great. Very informal, welcoming. No appointments necessary, and can just pop in for a coffee and a chat, or partake in their workshops.
For me I did both. Group support with others going through this dreadful journey. Workshops in how to look after myself and my skin during and after treatments. Clinical Cancer Psychologist who helped me to work through what my new life/journey may be. Fitness during Cancer, and even did a course on Nordic Walking. All this and they ask for nothing.
Maggie's will always be there for people with cancer but they need you alongside them. I know this year more than any is tough, however if there is anything you can do to contribute you will be making a real difference to those living with Cancer.
