Story

We will be joining Alistair in a skydive to help raise funds for IMND.

Ruth fought a very brave battle right to the end. She would be so so proud of Alistair for what he has done and raised, it really is amazing.

Rachael first met Ruth when they started playing in the local pool legue in Nerja 2015. Their friendship grew and they moved into an apartment together, the first disagreement was over who was getting the bigger bedroom and Ruth won haha. Rachael has some of the best memories in that apartment with Ruth, she was so much fun to be around and had a great outlook on life. This charity is close to Rachael's  heart as her granda also sadly passed away in his early 40's with Motor Neurone Disease.

Laura met Ruth vía APA Nerja where she successfully fostered many puppies. Ruth had a passion with animals and loved taking puppies into her home to give them the best start in life while they were looking for their forever homes. Every plea for help, if Ruth was able to, she was always there offering to help.

Everything raised goes directly to IMNDA which provides necessary home care nursing, equipment, and counselling for those living with Motor Neurone Disease.

About the charity

The Irish Motor Neurone Disease Association (IMNDA) is the only organisation of its kind in the country providing specialised services to families affected by this terminal condition. The Association cannot slow the progression of MND or change the outcome but we can alleviate the feelings of isolation and frustration. We offer consistent support to approximately 400 families across Ireland who otherwise would have nowhere else to turn. Everybody with MND has different needs at different stages of their journey and we are here to help and guide them every step of the way. The services provided by the IMNDA are immediate and free of charge for everyone registered with the Association. Key services include: • Access to 4 outreach nurses directly employed by the IMNDA and funded entirely by donations. • Access to a home care grant. • Access to specialised equipment on loan (e.g. wheelchairs, hoists, communication aids etc). • Access to funding towards counselling sessions for the person with MND and family members. Your support is absolutely vital. More than 86% of our income comes from fundraising and donations.
