Story
In January 2020 Jack came home from school with a temperature, he continued to be a bit poorly for the next couple of days. Everyone assumed it was a virus that would just clear up. In the early hours of the third day Jack became very ill, he was unable to move his head or swallow. Shortly after arriving at Queen's Medical Centre a scan showed just how serious Jack's infection was. They had to put him on a ventilator to keep his airway open whilst the antibiotics fought the infection that was in his neck.
Jack spent 48 hours in the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit, during that time two highly specialised nurses watched his every breath and took unbelievable and life saving care of our little boy. The Doctors were never more than a few metres away. During that time they supported Mark and I and even made a space for Rosie.
Jack fought back against the infection and he came home to us. He is an active and very busy 7 year old now.
I am running the Cotswolds Way Ultra over two days, 50km each day. I'm not a good runner but I am so determined to do this to raise money for the PICU at QMC, to say thank you for everything they did for our family in 2020.
