Fundraising for AHEAD
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I am doing a 450 mile (750 km), five days charity cycle ride. It is certainly a challenge for me having broken my leg last year and wondering how the metal work will hold up (in my leg that is). This charity cycle has been organized by my friend Dave whose five year old daughter was diagnosed and cured of a brain tumour within a few months, last year. He is cycling in aid of the Sick Kids Friends' Foundation which is raising money for new brain surgery equipment. The cycle will be done by me, my partner Gordon (an HDU nurse in ) and Dave. We will have a support team consisting of John and Bill (who is himself just recovering from leukaemia and bowel cancer). Gordon and I are cycling principally in aid of Action for Health, Education and Development (AHEAD) which was founded by my brother-in-law Dr Elfneh Bariso (AHEAD website: http://www.ahead.org.uk/) to raise money for his community in Ethiopia. The proceeds that Gordon and I collect from the ride will be split by AHEAD between building a vocational training community centre building and a hostel for poor rural girls to attend secondary education. Or, if you would like to donate to the sick kids visit http://www.justgiving.com/gretna2groatsDonating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer.
Thanks Ruth and Gordon
