Story
Thank you so very much for taking the time to visit my page and read my story. So here we go again. My Paris marathon, deferred from 2020 because of the rona, 2022 is now the year. My 40th year too. I think I may go into marathon retirement after this!
For a woman who never had a desire to run a marathon in her life, I’m about to embark on my third. After running London in 2015 and 2018 to support two cancer charities, I am now running my third in Paris for Prostate Cancer UK.
Running London was in memory of my beautiful Mum and other family members who very sadly lost their battle with the cruel disease that is cancer. This year, I run in memory of my lovely Uncle who we sadly lost in 2019 after a long battle with prostate cancer.
Losing people you love to this horrendous disease is truly heartbreaking and I will always do whatever I can to help support the fantastic work of cancer charities.
So, to Paris this Freckle face goes. Determined, excited but nervous. I actually think this gets more nerve-racking each time as I know what lies ahead. A marathon distance is no walk in the park and deserves total respect in my opinion. Training is bloomin hard but I’m so committed to this and honouring the memory of my very special Uncle.
Thank you so much for all your support. I can never put into words what it means to me and how much it helps me get to that finish line :-)
Paris, watch out. On April 3rd, I will be running, dancing and no doubt crawling my way to that finish line. Bring on that post mara champas!
Lots of love Ruth xxx
