Story
Fibromyalgia is a recognised chronic condition of widespread pain and profound fatigue. The pain tends to be felt as diffuse aching or burning, often described as head to toe. It may be worse at some times than at others and may also change location, usually becoming more severe in parts of the body that are used most. The fatigue ranges from feeling tired, to the exhaustion of a flu-like illness, often feeling as if someone just “pulled the plug”.
As a relatively fit 60 year old, being diagnosed with this life-altering, debilitating condition came as a bit of a bombshell and the thought of not being able to continue running scared me silly!
So...with some medication, a positive mindset and huge determination, I am learning to manage the symptoms, pace myself AND continue to run in between the rough days.
By pushing myself to complete the London Marathon in October, I am hoping to raise some much needed funds for FMA UK. Our support for this charity can help to improve the lives of sufferers by increasing the awareness of the condition as well as improving diagnosis & access to treatment.
Thank you for your kind support.
Onwards and upwards xx
