Story
As many of you will know, I have been a volunteer with The Elizabeth Foundation in Portsmouth for over two years. I work with 3 and 4 year old children to help them prepare for mainstream schooling. The majority of these little ones are profoundly deaf and can only hear speech with cochlear implants. Background noise, however, always remains a problem for them but they pick up good lip-reading skills while they are in class.
You can find more about The Elizabeth Foundation on their website but seeing, at first hand, the amazing work that the nursery staff do has made me want to help their fund-raising for this very worthwhile charity.
I am hoping to swim 80 lengths (which apparently is a mile!) and have been "training" since the New Year. If you could support me in my madness - £10 tops - I would be very grateful and it will certainly help me along those lengths!
Here is an idea of where the total amount raised might go.......
£100 would pay for the pre-school nursery daily art sessions for one term, including paint, brushes, glue, glitter, coloured paper and card.
£250 overall would cover the cost of food items for our daily snack sessions in pre-school for half a term.
£500 would cover the cost of a nursery place for a whole term.
So every £1 (and length!) counts.
I hope you will feel this is worth supporting. Thank you very much.
