I'm at it again! This time it's double the distance - the London Marathon!
I'd really appreciate your support, no matter how small, it will mean an enormous amount to me. I'm really going to have to dig deep for this one.
Twelve months on from Mum's lung cancer diagnosis on 26 November we had a celebration! Then on 27 November we celebrated Mum and Dad's ruby wedding anniversary. These are massive milestones, and the next one Mum's aiming for is the London Marathon 2023. Well, this time she'll be cheering me on.
21 years ago Mum and Dad ran the London Marathon, I thought they were completely bonkers. I mean, why would you want to put yourself through that?! Now, I get it. Running has given me something to completely lose myself in, to challenge myself to do paces and distances that I never even dreamed I'd be able to do. I've also done a lot of soul searching whilst I've been out there, reflecting on Mum's diagnosis, what it all means, remembering all the daft things we've done over the years and thinking about the future.
Choosing to run for the Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation seemed really fitting - they do amazing work for patients and their families. I want to do everything I can to raise funds to support their work, to support research and provide help to anyone going through what we've been through as a family.
