Story
Well, I’m doing it again.. once again, lacing up my trainers to raise money for ELHT&Me, the fantastic charity which fundraises to improve facilities at its 5 hospitals outside of normal NHS funding.
7 weeks after finishing chemotherapy for stage 2 Hodgkin Lymphoma, I ran the Blackburn 10k, 1 year after being diagnosed, I ran the Manchester 1/2 marathon… and now I’m running the Burnley 10k.
It’s been a tricky year but without the support of the nurses and staff at Royal Blackburn Hospital, it would have been so much harder.. navigating the terminology, medication, appointments and more appointments!
East Lancashire Hospital Charity is launching an appeal to raise funds for a refurbishment of the Hospitals Chemotherapy Unit. This will result in the Unit being completely redesigned and refurbished, bringing it to a high-quality provision of cancer, providing the best possible environment for patient care. Improved experience for all patients. Flexible treatment areas. Space for family and friends to accompany patients during treatment. Highest quality of treatment facilities.
