On Sunday 19 February three employees from Russell New, who are more commonly known for advising small and medium sized businesses, private clients, trusts and charities, ran the Brighton half marathon to help raise money for Brain Tumour Research.
Charities & Education Partner, Mark Cummins and Business Advisers, Stuart McKay and Liz Whitby supported each other every mile, as they took part in the popular seaside event in order to raise money for Brain Tumour Research.
The next event is on 15 April, Stuart and Mark will be tying up their laces to their running shoes once again as they compete in the full Brighton Marathon.
Having completed similarly gruelling running events in the past including the London, New York and Berlin Marathons, 39-year-old Mark has helped raise in excess of £10,000 for charities and he hopes to add a significant number to that tally at the 2012 Brighton Half-Marathon. Stuart has also completed many half and full marathons for charity.
In the UK more children and people under the age of 40 die of a brain tumour than any other cancer and yet just 70p in every £100 spent nationally on cancer research goes to brain tumour research. The charity Brain Tumour Research aims to raise at least £7 million per annum to significantly accelerate progress in UK brain tumour research, making a clinical difference and improving patient outcomes. Brain Tumour Research relies on the support of inspirational people, many of whom have been affected, either personally by a brain tumour or who have witnessed the pain and suffering of someone close to them.
Mark, who will be taking part in his 10 Brighton half marathon says: “I may be no stranger to running but the Brighton half marathon always throws up a new set of challenges. Having Stuart and Liz to train with and run alongside is a great motivation and as well as raising lots of money for our chosen cause we’re also hoping to make everyone at Russell New proud.”
