Story
Wildlife populations have plummeted by 68% in 50 years. As an Eco-therapist and somebody always keen to take on a physical challenge what better way to give back then by combining these aspects.
Our 7 day charity challenge is to sled ~ 270km in Lapland through untouched nature! Originally the challenge was due to start in Norway and finish in Sweden, it has also now been pushed back from 2022 to 2023 and due to covid restrictions etc current plan is now to be fully contained in Sweden.
Our challenge begins making our way to the Dog Sled Centre in order to meet our husky companions. After meeting and greeting our furry friends, we then dive straight into the spirit of adventure and out sledding with our Alaskan Husky friends and spending the next few days in the wilderness amongst the Sami people and their reindeer, up into the mountains and onto Lake Jieka Javri. We are expecting to sled for up to 7.5 hours a day heading deep into the mountains before tending to our team of huskies.
I have self funded the cost of the trip to ensure any donations go directly to the charity itself.
My target is a very strange amount as £235 previously raised on VM giving before the due was shut down. Please be assured if already donated your donation was passed into wwf the week it was collected and has not gone missing. Many thanks to the following donors on that site:
- Derek Benjamin
- Steve Beard
- Callum Funnell
- Natalie Higginson
- Miall Capelin
- Olivia McFaul
- Abi Ivory
- Matt Adams
