Story

After an ongoing cough and eventually wheezing and shortness of breath, my wife, Jade, was diagnosed with stage IV ALK Positive lung cancer in April 2022. As a healthy never-smoker, aged just 29, this came as a huge shock to us all.

We quickly found support and a huge source of knowledge in ALK Positive UK, who support, empower and advocate for ALK Positive lung cancer patients and their families. The charity and its community has helped us to approach the future with a positive mindset.

Jade is currently receiving targeted therapy treatment, Brigatinib (a TKI), in the form of a tablet taken once a day. This has meant that we have been able to continue enjoying life to the full, including holidays and spending plenty of time outdoors!

As ALK Positive UK continue to support us and many other ALK Positive lung cancer patients and their families, we are keen to challenge ourselves to raise as much money as possible to support them to continue their brilliant work.

Starting with a half marathon in October 2022, I plan to take on increasingly more challenging events as we are on this journey.

-Royal Parks Half Marathon (October 2022) - Completed
-Salisbury Plain Winter Edition Marathon (December 2022) - Completed
-Royal Windsor Triathlon - Olympic Distance (June 2023) - Completed
-Royal Parks Half Marathon (October 2023) - Completed
-Royal Windsor Triathlon - Olympic Distance (June 2024)
-More to come

Please share your ideas for events. I'd love to have friends and family of myself and Jade join events so please let me know if you'd like to join the fun!
