Story
Dearest friends, family, colleagues and countrymen
Many of you will be surprised/ find it hilarious to hear that I am undertaking 2 lengthy sponsored rides in September and October. I will be fully dressed MAMIL - Middle Aged Man In Lycra (looking rather like a rolled side of ham where the elastic cuts into my fuller figure)
The first in a road ride of 100km with a team of Orthopaedics Surgeons on 19th September (YORCSSicycle) and the second my annual challenge to survive a 65km off-road race on 3rd October (Rothwell Lions Wild Boar Challenge).
Both are to raise funds for The Bone Cancer Research Trust.
Bone Cancers are rare, aggressive and often diagnosed late. Their treatment is arduous for patient and those who support them. We are very fortunate to have a charity that can support patients and their families. They also raise awareness of these tumours and support many of the bone cancer surgical centres, raising funds for research to take forward the medical treatments after surgery (chemo & immunotherapy).
This has affected my own Dad, who succumbed to multiple plasmacytomas 8 years ago and currently affects a respected orthopaedic colleague, Simon Woods, in the Yorkshire region.
Any sponsorship would be greatly appreciated on a personal and professional level
Thanks
Russ
