So here is my 'story'!

I have had an urge (God knows why) to run a marathon for a number of years. I have completed a couple of half marathons, but I wanted to 'try' and make the step up and complete a full marathon. This year I was lucky enough to secure a place in the London Marathon via. the ballot entry system (this was my third attempt at getting a place). As I got my place through the ballot, I am not obliged to raised any money for charity, and my only really target is to drag myself around the 26.2 miles! However, as this is my first (and in all likelihood my last) marathon I figured it would be nice to try and raise a bit of money for a couple of local charities at the same time. Donations on this page will go to Bolton Hospice, but I am also trying to raise some money for Bolton Lads & Girls club (see my other page). If you can make a donation to either charity (or ideally split it between both) it would be very much appreciated.

For anyone who knows me, they will testify that I like a beer or ten, and healthy eating is not something I am renowned for! It is going to take guts and determination to complete the marathon, so if I can see that my efforts are raising a bit of cash for good causes it will certainly help motivate me.
