Classic FM is proud to announce its new charity: Make Some Noise – we will help disadvantaged children and young people across the UK. Thanks to your support, we have grown over the years and we will continue to help those affected by illness, disability, bereavement or lack of opportunity.

Story

Although I'm a man with limited sporting experience (press 'read more' to see my 'Sporting C.V.' below), this coming Saturday I'll be attempting to run 26 miles and 385 yards in the Stockholm Marathon.

Whilst I was originally tempted to run in aid of the Swedish Air Ambulance service, on the grounds that I will probably need them, I'm now running on behalf of Classic FM Music Makers. This excellent charity raises money to fund music education and therapy projects working with the most disadvantaged children and adults across the UK.

Although I can't promise that you'll be backing a winner, I'll do my best to finish alive, and I know that your support will provide a great inspiration for me and will really help make a difference to the thousands of people who benefit from the work of Music Makers every year.

I'd be extremely grateful for absolutely any donations to the cause - thank you.

2001 - entered a sailing tournament in Dover Harbour (yes, it is a sport) - fell in and swam to shore.

2007 - Goalkeeper for King's College Choir football team. Lost. Badly.

2010 - With your help, finished Stockholm Marathon. Maybe...!
