London Marathon 2022 · 2 October 2022 ·

Welcome to the London Marathon 2022 fundraising page for #TeamMSAT. This years exciting event promises to be the biggest and best yet, with all fundraising pledged to help us to continue to support the MSA community.

Story

Hi guys. As most of you will know, in 2019 my dad Richard died from multiple system atrophy, a rare progressive neurological disorder that affects nerve cells in the brain. He suffered from the disease for many years and my mum Caroline cared for him throughout.

Anyone who met my dad knows he was a true gentleman - and he never once complained about his lot. 3 years after he died, I'm running to celebrate his memory.

The MSA Trust is the UK's leading charity supporting people affected by MSA, and they were there for both of them throughout. The disease currently has no cure. Hopefully one day, with your support, the research they fund will find one, so that nobody else has to suffer.

Covid stopped my attempt in 2020 but two years on the ambition is the same - to try and beat my previous marathon time from Paris in 2014. I'm not quite as fit as I was then and my shin is playing up, but anyone who fancies spurring me on with a time related sponsorship bonus... please be my guest ;)

Thank you so much.
