Story
The Bob Graham Round is a 100km circuit, starting and finishing in Keswick, taking in the summits of forty-two Lake District fells. The idea is to cover this distance in 24 hours. The terrain is mostly rough, and at times brutally steep and ankle-twisting. There's a cumulative 8000m of ascent to do. And the same coming down. It's the biggest, most daunting running challenge I have ever done - by a huge margin!
I don't know whether I can do it. But I've been training for this, one way or another, for about 10 years. I first read about the BG in 2012 and wondered if, one day, I might be fit enough, experienced enough, tough enough and mad enough to take it on. Sunday is the day.

I'm tackling the challenge with the help of friends and family who will be supporting me along the way on the fells and in the valleys. I have spent countless trips walking and running in the Lakes, and through these I have a developed a permanent and deep bond to the place - it is a home for me. Many of these adventures have been in trackless terrain, miles from civilisation, and occasionally in some properly challenging conditions. Throughout, I have been comforted in the knowledge that, if I ever got into real trouble up the fells, there is an ultimate safety net: Mountain Rescue.
The Lake District Mountain Rescue teams do an incredible job, year after year, saving lives and helping people who get into bother on the hills. They do this completely voluntarily, and so I'm doing a bit of fundraising go some small way to support their amazing work. The money can go to new kit, new equipment, new ropes, new stretchers, new vehicles, new technology, new meds. They will come out and help you, 365 days of the year - in any conditions. That is incredible, and something we should celebrate!
Thanks :)
