Lewisham, Greenwich and Southwark Samaritans have been working towards a world where fewer people die by suicide for 50 years. They've achieved a lot since 1969, training over 1,300 Samaritans and responding to around 30,000 calls for help a year as well as promoting good mental health throughout our communities by working with partners like local NHS Trusts, homeless drop-in centres, Network rail and local schools and universities. Now I'm helping them to do even more, to be where the need is, to be there for anyone in our community who is suffering with mental health problems, feels distressed, lonely, unheard or suicidal. With the money I raise they aim to: * increase outreach work, being there for people who are vulnerable, homeless and who have complex needs * encourage talking about good mental health and wellbeing across our boroughs * reach out to more children and young people through schools and youth groups.
