Story
I am a runstreaker, someone who runs every single day. Over the last 600+ consecutive days I have run a minimum of 5k each day.
I started running two years ago aged 37 after being called fat too many times and now, I am much fitter and at a healthy weight.
I will be 40 in 2020. What running challenge could I choose that would be a bucket list event to complete before my 40th?
I have chosen to take on two events. The first is the Royal Parks Half Marathon in October 2019. This will be the longest run I have ever done! Then in April, 3 weeks before I reach 4-0, I will run the biggest race of them all, the London Marathon. For me, this is a huge challenge that will test my body to its limit. I plan to runstreak my way through training for the marathon too! EEEEK!!
I am grateful to Spinal Research for allowing them to be part of their team. Prior to these 2 years of running, I had chosen a much more sedate way of life before. It never occurred to me that having the CHOICE to be lazy was actually a huge blessing. I had taken for granted that the ability to walk, run and be active is actually a gift. That is why I shall be running, to help those who don’t have the choice.
Spinal Research is the UK’s leading charity funding medical research around the world to develop effective treatments for paralysis caused by spinal cord injury. Every year 1,000 people in the UK and Ireland are paralysed following an injury to their spinal cord.
We receive no government funding and rely entirely on the support of the public to raise funds for our research. Because of the efforts of our supporters, we have funded innovative medical research that has achieved a number of ground breaking changes in the future.
