Story
I am currently running a marathon on every continent on Earth, from the desert in Africa to the polar conditions of Antarctica, in honour of my Grandfather and in support of Alzheimer's Research UK, the charity leading the fight against Dementia.
More people have been to space, or rowed an ocean, than ran seven marathons on seven continents, considered by many to be the pinnacle of adventure running. However, no one in history has ran in the remote and extreme environments that I am currently undertaking.
I have completed six continents so far: running through the Agafay Desert in Morocco, Wadi Rum Desert in Asia, Alaska in North America, Australian Outback in Oceania, Amazon Rainforest in South America and Arctic Circle in Europe . In December 2023, I will embark on my final marathon of the project in Antarctica - the coldest, windiest and driest continent on Earth.
This project is in support of Alzheimer's Research UK, and in honour of my Grandfather, Captain Eric Taylor, who sadly battled with Dementia for the last 17 years of his life. I had the privilege of speaking at my Grandad's funeral, and made the promise to support the charity until the day we find a cure. I will not break my promise.
I am proud to have supported this wonderful charity for over 5 years now, from first climbing Mount Kilimanjaro as a teenager to fulfil my Grandfather's dream, running 17 marathons in 17 consecutive days, to swimming from Europe to Asia across one of the busiest shipping lanes in the world.
All donations on this JustGiving page go directly to Alzheimer's Research UK. Thank you very much for your time and support. Together, we can beat Dementia.
