EXERCISE RUNNING ROCK
We are both serving members of the Royal Air Force Regiment and are currently deployed to Afghanistan with 51 Squadron Royal Air Force Regiment. On our return to the , we aim to run, together, from Lands End to John O Groats, in 21 Days starting on
1 January 2011.
Many people have tried to tackle the 874 miles from Lands End to John O Groats by various means, such as walk, run, cycle or drive, and often for charity. We have our hearts set on completing this great challenge for two very worthy causes, Help for Heroes and Cancer Research UK. The money that you donate on this website will go to
Cancer Research UK to assist in fighting cancer and to help those suffering from this cruel disease as have members of both of our families.
As far as we know, the Royal Air Force Regiment has not previously attempted to take on this challenge and to do so in the winter months would be another first for the corps. A specially selected team from the Royal Air Force Regiment will support the attempt by vehicle and bicycle for the 21 days.
The event, having taken over 9 months to prepare and plan will involve the team covering
43 Miles a day, for
21 days. There will be
no rest days and the team will need to spend between
8-10 Hours per day on the road.
As we make our way up the , we will give progress reports via this website on a daily basis.
Thank you for your support,
Charlie and Chris
