Joe & Angus are ready for setting an unofficial world record for the most bonkers 127 Miles Pentathlon. The Leeds to Liverpool canal is 127 Miles long, which is over 200KM. If that doesnt sound very difficult then imagine this:
That is longer than the drive from Liverpool all the way to Carlisle. And were not driving, were doing the following:
10 Miles of individual Kayaking along the Canal having to drag the kayaks in and out of the water and up and down stairs where we meet different Locks ( there are 91 of them on route )
60 Mile Bike Ride along the tow path, grass, cobbles, stairs and gravel also not just smooth paths.
10 Mile Tandem Canoe back in the water, a punishing journey tackling low bridges, locks and other canal boats.
27 Mile Run ( longer than a Marathon ) hard enough on its own, we're doing a marathon along the towpath too. Say no more...
20 mile Nordic Roller Ski Ok, so we wanted to do something as unique as possible, so we decided to get hold of some Powerslide SKIS. What are they you ask? They are Skis on Wheels, used by cross country ski athletes for summer training. So yes - were skiing the canal system banks also. like I said - Bonkers but great fun.
We're hoping to make a huge difference - The Alzheimer’s Society is transforming the landscape of dementia forever.Until the day we find a cure, we will create a society where those affected by dementia are supported and accepted, able to live in their community without fear or prejudice.
