Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I have transitioned from being an occasional runner to following a training plan in order to run my first half marathon in less than 2 hours. From focusing on my diet, mindset and training I have been running with amazing people who have helped me along the way. A big thank you to the Brooks’ power couple for having made me a runner and for maninhos Joao and Bruno for agreeing of doing the GNR with me. A very special thank you to MD for teaching me how to stay mentally strong when facing adversity (and for the lovely cover photo)!
I am raising money for the West End Refugee Service (WERS) as I have been volunteering with them for the past year as part of their Befriending Scheme. Volunteering with a charity that treats people like people in a non-judgmental way has been a pleasure and I just want to further support them with my fundraising efforts.
Being a migrant myself I am aware of how privileged I was in entering this country and making it my own. WERS helps people who (for a number of reasons) had to flee their countries and make the North East their home.
WERS is a registered charity supporting asylum seekers and refugees in Newcastle upon Tyne, which empowers men and women, whose futures have been irrevocably changed by past events in their home country, to regain some control over their lives.
Please feel free to visit their website http://www.wers.org.uk/ to check out the amazing work they do and see ways you can perhaps further support them and/or even volunteer.
