Story

The 5th August 2020 was meant to be the happiest day of our lives. Finally getting to meet our twin boys James and Ryan.

Sadly on the day they were due no heartbeat could be found for our biggest twin James who was sadly stillborn. Our littlest twin Ryan although still with us was in a bad way.

We got transferred to the John Radcliffe in Oxford where after 5 days it became clear there was nothing more that could be done. We were transferred to Helen House Hospice where Ryan joined his brother at 9 days old.

Last year I ran 365 miles in 365 days in their memory.

This year with the help of my amazing friends we aim to complete 4040km running as a team to raise money for SSNAP who supported us in the intensive care unit. That's 2020km for each of our boys for their birth year. Also as it is SSNAP's 40th anniversary year, 4040 seemed a fitting distance.

The challenge will take place across a number of events including Blenheim 7k (confirmed), Thame 10k (yet to be confirmed) and the Oxford Half Marathon (awaiting confirmation) plus all the other miles we run throughout the year.

Please support us if you can helping to make the lives better for other parents and families having to deal with the awful news that their child isn't fit and healthy at birth.

Thank you!

In the UK, 1 in 10 babies need specialist care at birth. SSNAP supports sick & premature babies and their families in the Newborn Care Unit at the John Radcliffe Hospital. Imagine your newborn baby needing specialist care at birth. Instead of those very special days getting to know your baby as a family, you’re catapulted into an unfamiliar world of incubators, wires, medical tests and interventions. While your baby has specialist treatment, we provide emotional and practical support to help you through the trauma & upheaval. We’re there to help families cope, and provide state-of-the-art medical equipment and nursing expertise that could save babies lives.
