Having worked at Royal Manchester Children's Hospital, I had heard of Ronald McDonald house, seen the building, but had no idea of how amazing the work they do is.  When our little boy was admitted to the hospital, his Dad, sister and I moved into Mac House.  We took it in turns to stay on the ward with Harry or at Mac house with Isolde, she called it her second home, bragging about her five kitchens! 

Without Mac House, our family would have been divided; Isolde and one parent at home, Harry and the other over 20 miles away.  They gave us stability, security and the chance to keep a routine, a semblance of normality, for us all that was life changing.  We could never thank them enough but I hope that, by running further than I ever have before, and taking on this challenge, I can give back a little to help other families who find themselves in need of a home away from home in future.
