Story
The majority of women, myself included, have experienced some form of sexual harassment, assault or violence. Running is an activity during which many women feel unsafe and the threat of violence or assault seems particularly imminent. It therefore feels fitting to me to run (and run, and run) to raise awareness and funds to fight against rape culture and sexual violence. From July 31st - August 2nd, I will be running ~160km (100 miles) and with ~5300m in elevation gain (4x the height of Ben Nevis) to raise money for the Edinburgh Rape Crisis Centre and Rape Crisis England and Wales. Each day is harder than the last, and all three days are longer than a marathon distance.
Any donations would be greatly appreciated and will definitely provide some motivation to keep going during what I know will be a very gruelling 3 days. If you opt to share your email with me then you will receive a link as I set off each day to track me live as I go! I’ve made two donation pages under one team, so you can choose to donate to the Edinburgh Centre or the English/Welsh network, or both! Alternatively, if this inspires you to donate to another charity fighting sexual violence near you (especially those of you who don’t live in the U.K.), I would love for you to let me know so we can track the impact of our collective efforts 💜(and I’ll also send a live track link your way if you so wish!)
