Story
Thanks for visiting my page. I'm raising money for the British Heart Foundation and I'd be so grateful for your support.
I'm running for both my Dad who had a major heart attack last September and a close friend whose had ongoing heart problems after a heart attack caused by COVID at the age of just 29.
It's only through the research and support of foundations such as BHF that incredible advances have been made and that my Dad in particular was able to receive the life saving treatment that he did.
I'm also going to make a personal donation to the Cardiology department at New Cross Hospital, matching whatever I raise for the BHF up to £500 because it took 2 ambulances, 3 ambulance crew, an off duty nurse at the scene and an emergency team upon arrival to keep him alive. He was less than 5 minutes by blue lights from the hospital. The care he continued to receive afterwards in the Cardiology department and ongoing rehab programmes have been outstanding.
The BHF has helped halve the number of people dying from heart and circulatory disease in the UK but sadly every day hundreds of people lose their lives. It's only thanks to support from people like us that the BHF can create new treatments and discover new cures.
£24 could pay for two hours of research by an early career scientist, but every pound helps so please give what you can to help me hit my target.
I normally walk marathons for charity and I lift weights, I don't run so signing up for a half has been a real challenge to overcome. I've been training 3/4 times a week since October, and 6 times a week since January.
Thank you for your support ❤️
