Why? Let me tell you!

I love running! And I always had. There is something special about getting from A to B by your own machine. The freedom, the exhaust, the enviroment, the health aspect, the community. The list of positive outcome of putting your shoes on and getting out running is so long. I just love it.

I´m a swedish guy at age 43. I live with my Wife and 2 kids near Gothenburg. Life has been ongoning through the year´s.
At 2020 I started to feel hurt in my right leg. Something was bad and it got to a point where I almost wasn´t capable of walking. Life was tough. I got to a doctor and X-ray showed a tumor in my spinal canal. I was devastated. I got surgery and they had to cut of nerves to remove the tumor. The pain when I woke up from the anesthetic was so intense. The upcoming time with rehab was hard. I basicly had to learn a lot of things once again. I never forget the first time I tried walking in stairs again. My legs buckled and I collapsed in a heap. It must have looked fun. After the operation, I have no sensation in the lower part of the right leg and some pain in the left leg. But nothing I can´t live with.

My physiotherapist and I never really got along as I was constantly exercising twice as much as she prescribed. My sights have always been set on coming back. Even though I had nerve pain, my body felt good. As soon as I had the opportunity to try running again, I did. My physical therapist was a little mad at me but she trusted that it would work. After some time, we went our separate ways as she felt that I didn't need her help. And I probably didn't.

Pretty soon I set goals with the training. 1km, 2km, 5km, 10km, 15km, 21km. Gradually I increased the amount. The final goal was to complete a marathon distance, 42km, on the anniversary of the operation. And finally I made it on the day one year later after surgury. It was so emotional! And on that road I am. Still running and chasing those goals in life.

Now it's time to pay back and what would be better for me than to run and use the gift I got back to help others. Research into diseases is fundamental for us to be able to develop and find new solutions to our problems. If science hadn't come this far, I wouldn't be on my feet today and the operation I did wouldn't have been as successful and had the same results. I have research to thank for everything.

Therefore, I also need your help to run these 42 km.

You can help me by donating any amount.

You can also help me by donating the cost for an actual distance in the race and thus get the opportunity to advertise with me.
