Story
I'm running 75 miles around the Dengie peninsula in Essex in support of the RNLI. It may be flat but only 5 miles of the route is paved. This is no easy feat. Day one is 38 miles long. On day two, I'll be waking up and running a further 36 miles to the finish line.
"Feedback from the saltmarsh community is consistent, the 75 is MUCH harder than people expect. Most people put that down to the fact that it’s a flat course with occasionally difficult and uneven ground conditions. Certain sections are very remote and can be quite hostile environments in bad weather. Distance running and walking is as much about psychology as about physical fitness and there are parts of the course that will play all sorts of games with your mind."
It's my first ultra marathon, and I'm a bit scared to say the least. I should have started with something a little more tame, such as a plain old marathon first. But heyo, diving right in is my style.
Any donation will be gratefully received by myself, all the super RNLI volunteers and those whose lives are saved at sea.
