Story
Running for Waves is Luke, Callum, and Amadeusz; three friends and colleagues from Origin Coffee (origincoffee.co.uk) in Cornwall. We’re taking part in The Classic Quarter in May 2022, a relentless 44-mile ultramarathon along the south coast of Cornwall, UK.
The challenge is to run non-stop from the southernmost point of England (Lizard Point) to the westernmost tip (Land’s End), along the legendary South West Coast Path. This translates to running 90 degrees on the compass, hence the name, Classic Quarter. The task is usually undertaken in a relay team of four but we’ve decided to each run all 44 miles together.
Evidence continues to grow that getting in the sea, having a surf, and having fun make a measurable difference to our mental health. We want all children and young people in the UK to have access to this, which is why we’re proud to be officially recognised by The Wave Project, who we’ll be fundraising for with this challenge.
The Wave Project currently have over 6,000 volunteer surf mentors who deliver free, life-changing surf therapy, every day at one of 32 locations across the UK. Surf therapy is now a growing global movement, which we are proud to be a part of too.
