Story
You may be asking why I am doing this? Well someone who had a part in making me the man I am today is one of my primary school teacher's, Jenny Reid. Jenny is the type of person who is always laughing, she will do anything to help anyone and until recently had her wonderful husband, Paul always by her side. Paul a keen runner himself, also had that same amazing zest for life, I never saw him without a smile on his face and the occasional beer in his hand.
After a very fulfilled and amazing life, Paul passed away recently due to cancer. I would like to run this marathon in memory of him and for the 1000's of people affected by cancer every year. St Luke's is a local charity that Jenny and many others hold dear to their heart as it provides palliative care to local people, supporting them in ways which go beyond the scope and funding of the NHS.
Last year they supported over 1,000 local people with a huge range of support from end of life care on their ward to supporting carers, and from helping children cope with grief to helping patients return to work after an illness. They are a charity and provide all their care for free, so they rely on the generosity and commitment of their supporters to raise more than 80% of their costs.
Whether it is £100 or £1, any amount to a charity like this will make such an incredible difference to so many people. So get your hands in your pockets and show me the money because it will be the difference this money will make that will get me through the 26 miles.
Thanks a bunch,
Fred
