Story

In April 2022 I was at work when I received a devastating phone call that my mother had found my 20 year old brother Tom Petley at home in his bed having passed away in his sleep. Having completed 16 years in the Police I had dealt with situations around death, but nothing prepares you for this, that phone call will live with me forever. Tom died of an undiagnosed cardiac condition. He was fit and healthy and that night had been at the gym.
I am running The London Marathon for CRY to help raise awareness of this condition and to prevent others going through what we have been as a family.

Every week in the UK at least 12 apparently fit and healthy young people die of undiagnosed cardiac conditions. With your donation, CRY can reduce the frequency of young sudden cardiac death (YSCD) by working with cardiologists and family doctors to establish good practice and appropriate screening facilities to promote and protect the cardiac health of our young. By supporting CRY you will help save young lives from these potentially fatal cardiac conditions. See how your support can help by visiting www.c-r-y.org.uk

I know it says virtual but I am running The London Marathon.
