Story
Dear amazing supporters,
I have decided to dust off my running shoes and get my 'Dad bod' in shape for the Bristol 10k on 15th of May in memory of my lovely Dad Chris, who died of Pancreatic Cancer in October.
My family have been supported amazingly through this whole process and I am very humbled and thankful that my friends Lydia Lloyd and Sam Forsey have offered to run with me (well, far ahead of me!) to continue raising money for Pancreatic Cancer UK.
Pancreatic Cancer has been dubbed the 'Silent Killer' as it often doesn't give rise to any symptoms in the early stages - Pancreatic Cancer UK is the only charity in the UK fighting this awful disease on all fronts, through support, information, campaigning and research.
Currently no amount of money can pay for the effective treatment of Pancreatic Cancer; it has claimed the lives of millionaires Steve Jobs, Patrick Swayze, Pavarotti and, most recently, Alan Rickman. The only way that this can change is through funding for campaigning and research into early warning signs and new treatment methods.
Sorry that I am not running a marathon (yet!) but it seems apt to start with the Bristol 10k two days after my Dad's 52nd birthday.Thank you so so much to all of you who have donated in memory of Chris (currently at £2000+!). If you can spare a few quid to spur the three of us on in May, we would appreciate it enormously.
