I am looking to undertake a race a month throughout 2017 in memory of my good friend Sophie's brother Marcus Gynn who lost his battle with Cancer on the 11th February 2016 aged just 36.  His passing hit me hard.  We are both the eldest child, Football and Running are really significant parts of our lives and it just felt very close to home when I heard he had passed away. The stories of his courage in the face of such hardships from his friends and family, as well as his blogs are inspiring.

I hope my challenge helps to continue Marcus' legacy as well as raising vital funds to continue Sarcoma UK's important work.

I haven't got all twelve events locked in but they are currently looking like this:

Jan - Benfleet 15 - Done. With a broken hand.

Jan - Basildon parkrun - Done. 

Feb - Saltburn Trail Half Marathon - Done in just over 3 hours. Brutal!

Feb - Test Track 10 - Done. 35th out of 287 runners in 1:10:36 and a PB by nearly 90 seconds!

Feb - Southend parkrun - sub 21, my fastest 5k in nearly two years. Now just one run away from my 50 t-shirt.

Mar - Essex 20 - miserable weather, but very happy to get another PB by nearly 2 and a half minutes.  2:36:24.

Mar - Sandy 10 - I've been lazy of late and this was much hillier than the Test Track 10 got it done in 1:15:46. 

Apr - Brighton Marathon - Hard day in the scorching sun 4:11.

May - Shakespeare Half Marathon - Still not training, so made hard work of this in 1:52

Jun - Olympic Park 10k - Late replacement for the Velopark 10 which was cancelled. Pleased to get sub 50 minutes off little to no training.

July - The Marcus Gynn Newmarket 10K -A great turn out for Marcus' event. A lovely route, I just missed out on sub 50 minutes.  

Aug - Southend parkrun, my slowest every parkrun where I haven't been pacing someone else round.

Sep - Southend parkrun 24:16 beating last months parkrun to the slowest ever award. My only run in September.

Oct - Southend 10k

Nov - TBC

Dec - TBC
