Parkinson’s is a cruel disease with no cure that impacts thousands of people a year.
15 years ago, Michael Willett was diagnosed with the disease and it has slowly decreased his motor function every year to the point where he is now unable to walk.
Inspired by the life he lived, full of hard work, adventure and family, we are running this half-marathon for him remembering the active, sport-loving life he lived.
Andrew Willett is Michael’s first son. He plays football regularly as a goalkeeper and walks his local hills extensively. He has taken part in previous fundraisers for Parkinson’s including a 100km walk.
Thomas Willett is Andrew’s first son and grandson of Michael. He is a keen runner having taken part in the Cheltenham half-marathon on several previous occasions. He took part in the 100km walk with Andrew, and has also run several ultra marathons up to the 50mile distance.
Nathan Willett is another of Michael’s grandchildren. He is a mountain adventurer and ultra runner. He previously raised support for Parkinson’s by running the length of Hadrian’s Wall in a day.
